Super Bowl Party Recipes

Everyone thinks of food when they think of a having a Super Bowl Party. But what to make? Who wants to cook all day? Well, here are a few easy recipes that will help make your Super Bowl party the water cooler chat while keeping you in the game!

One thing that I usually do is the traditional BBQ weenies. These are easy and totally fun to eat. I get the packages of Lil' Smokies, add honey BBQ sauce and then I heat them through. Serve these delights in a dish with decorative toothpicks for the perfect finger food for the big game. This dish is truly a family favorite.

Another easy, yet delicious recipe is the ever popular 7 Layer Dip. Now, I know that this sounds like work, but it is great fun! I think that you can add whatever floats your boat for this dip, but I use the standard Mexican style dip. I start with refried beans as the bottom layer. Then I sometimes add ground beef flavored with taco seasoning, green chile sauce or salsa. Next, the real treats. I then layer diced tomato, sour cream, salsa, olives and top that with the wonderful sliced green onion. Serve with your favorite tortilla chip for a party pleaser every time. Sometimes I change things up and add lettuce, shredded cheese or guacamole. Whatever suits your fancy. It is all good. So, don't forget the chips!

Ok, so I have a Mexican flavor theme going here so I won't stop. Another great things to make is what my daughter calls Taco Casserole. My daughter's friend's mom came up with this and I ran with it too. It is easy to fix and great to eat. Start out with a 9 x 13 pan and layer some Doritos on the bottom in a generous fashion. I use Nacho flavor and Cool Ranch flavor. I do that while I have a pound of ground beef browning. Once that is browned, I add a package of taco seasoning, but don't add all the water. Also, while the beef is browning, I have a large can of refried beans heating up. Then I add the beef mixture to the beans. Then layer that on top of the Doritos. Top that with your favorite shredded cheese (I use cheddar) finishing off with a nice layer of olives. Cook the casserole in a 350 degree oven about 15 to 17 minutes or until heated through. Serve with sour cream or salsa. Yummy!

For a sweet treat that doesn't take all day try Dump Cake. This is super good with a quick prep time. Start with 1 yellow cake mix box, 1 can crushed pineapple, 1 can tart cherries and 1 stick of butter or margarine. Pour cans of fruit in 9 x 13 pan. Spread dry cake mix over top. Spread melted butter over the top of dry mix. Bake at 350 degree oven till top starts to brown. Serve warm! Maybe add a little vanilla ice cream for a great Mexican feast chaser!

Create these great recipes for a fairly easy day before your party. Then you can actually relax during your party and enjoy your guests and the Super Bowl!
